Best SMP Server is a guide to SMP (survival multiplayer) Minecraft servers: the kinds there are, how to choose one, how to get a mixed group of friends playing together, and a short ranked list of public servers.
How we write it
We stick to facts you can check for yourself instead of praise, and why every page links to each server's own website and Discord so you can do that checking.
How the picks are chosen
For an SMP we weigh these, in this order:
- Community and staff: a busy community and a clear way to get help.
- Active player base: people online when you are.
- Java and Bedrock crossplay: room for friends on any device.
- Beginner-friendliness: easy to join and easy to start.
- Fair play: anti-cheat, and a store where everything can also be earned in game.
- Location: servers close to the players.
- Variety and longevity: other things to play, and a track record.
The four servers we list, in order, are SunRealms, AkumaMC, Vanilla Europa and LoverCraft. SunRealms offers a large crossplay community, strict anti-cheat on every realm and six realms on one address. AkumaMC offers seven gamemodes, from its original Prison to RNG, a large community of its own and a history going back to 2019. Vanilla Europa and LoverCraft are each built around one survival world, for players who want exactly that.
No ranking fits everyone, so each entry on the ranking sets out the facts you need to choose for yourself.
Where the facts come from
Every number and feature about a server on this site comes from that server's own information, so you can check it against the source.
Genre explanations, such as what a lifesteal SMP is or how Java and Bedrock differ, describe Minecraft and its communities in general terms.
What we don't do
- We don't review or score servers. The other servers we name, Vanilla Europa and LoverCraft in the ranking and the minigame networks Bedrock lists as featured servers, get plain facts only, without player counts or prices.
- No ratings, scores, reviews or testimonials appear on this site.
- We don't guess at numbers.
Keeping it current
This site was last updated on October 15, 2026. When a fact changes, the page changes with it, and so does the date. Best SMP Server isn't affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft.
