SunRealms: our first-pick SMP, in plain facts

SunRealms is a large crossplay network with six realms, Survival among them. This post covers what it offers a survival player, from the community and fair play to seasons and the other realms.

The Survival realm

SunRealms sums up its Survival realm in one line: classic Minecraft survival with the server's community. The SunRealms Discord is the place to meet that community before you log in, and to ask anything about the world.

Classic survival is the game you already know: punch a tree, craft your first tools, get a roof up before dark, then go looking for iron and whatever lies past the next hill. What changes on SunRealms is the company.

The community around it

The community is SunRealms' biggest draw. It usually has 500–1,000 players online, and more than 18,000 people belong to its Discord. On a survival server, a crowd that size means someone to team up with, someone to answer a question, and someone to show your build to.

It isn't a newcomer, either. SunRealms has been running for years, and its longest-running realm, Gens, is on its 30th season.

Keeping it fair

• Anti-cheat: strict, and it runs on every realm.
• Support: through Discord tickets, so a problem goes to a ticket instead of scrolling away in chat.
• Rules: written down at sunrealms.net/rules.
• Store: everything in the SunRealms store can also be earned in game.

Who can join, and from where

One address, web.sunrealms.net, serves both editions. Java players can connect on any version from 1.8 to 26.3. Bedrock players add port 19132 and can join from Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android, Xbox, PlayStation or Switch. Crossplay means both groups end up on the same server, which is what lets a mixed group of friends play one survival world together.

The servers sit in North America and Europe, which covers players on both sides of the Atlantic.

PvP, if you want it

Every SunRealms realm has a PvP arena with kits and lifesteal. Step in when you want a fight, and head back to your survival base when you don't.

When you want a break from Survival

The same address reaches five other realms. None of them is needed to enjoy Survival, but they're there for a rainy week.

• GensA Minecraft gens (generator) gamemode and SunRealms' longest-running realm, on its 30th season. It has 49 generator types, islands with teams, upgrades and augments, five grinding skills (mining, farming, fishing, woodcutting and slaying) with custom enchants, 18 global events, and 38 quests listed on the Gens wiki.
• PrisonSunRealms' OP Prison, with free ranks and a super OP economy: 14 themed mines, around 40 custom pickaxe enchants, 10 bosses, gangs, robots and rebirths.
• DungeonsZone-based combat across 20 zones, with heroes that fight beside you (Knight, Archer, Fire Mage and Medic), around 45 sword enchants, companions and the Zone Gambit event. It's a gamemode on the server, not Mojang's spin-off game Minecraft Dungeons.
• SkyblockSkills-based Skyblock with bosses, farming, foraging and island building.
• CobblemonCatch, train and battle Pokémon-style creatures with the Cobblemon mod. The SunRealms Discord has the current join instructions.

Seasons

Every realm, Survival included, runs in seasons with its own map and economy, and a new season starts every six weeks. Store ranks and Sunbits, the network-wide currency, carry over from one season to the next, so your rank and your Sunbits stay with you while everyone begins the new map together.
